These pools have been recently acquired from Altrincham Gas AC and we have undertaken a significant amount of maintenance already to be able to allow them to be fished, although more is still necessary.
There are two pools available to fish, Roadside pool and Field pool, with both being accessed via the padlocked gate at Roadside pool. You then need to go over a stile and walk 200 yards to Field pool which is accessed via another stile. You are NOT allowed to drive on the field even if the gate is open.
Roadside pool is generally from 18inches to 4 feet deep and contains Roach , Rudd , Bream and Carp to 12lbs with maybe the odd tench, crucian and Ide according to Rick Tracey who used to maintain the pools.
Field pool is between 2feet and 5 feet deep and contains a large head of carp in the 2.5lbs to 6lbs plus masses of roach and skimmers with the occasional appearance of perch up to 2.5lbs.
It is a fair trek to Field pool and so, if you intend to fish it, you will need to travel light in order to navigate the two stiles and potentially muddy or uneven ground if cattle have been in the field recently.
